January 9th Community Garden Event is Postponed

Updated: Jan 10, 2022

January 9th Event at the Pearl City Community Garden is Postponed - Will be rescheduled at a later date

Happy New Year Gardeners and D.I.S.C. Members, We hope you had a good holiday season and are staying well. With the current Omicron virus conditions in Florida, we think it is prudent to postpone our garden meeting and potluck that was scheduled for next Sunday, January 9th.

We’ll reschedule in the next months when the contagion rate is down. Meanwhile, our gem of a community garden is looking great. It’s the height of the South Florida growing season now and gardeners have been harvesting collards, peppers, and snap peas, plus the tomatoes are starting to show up. Almost all of the boxes are planted or replanted and growing vigorously. We have a new picnic table and a compost center built by an Eagle Scout candidate and his troop mates. Butterflies abound in our sunny pollinator garden. It’s a delightful place. Since we are not meeting this month, if you have any questions or need any help with your garden, don’t hesitate to call Betsy Pickup, 561-245-1214 or Lynn Russell, at 561-866-9990. Best wishes for a good year and Happy Gardening, Betsy and Lynn
