The members of the D.I.S.C. organization are committed to putting God's love into action by, becoming bridges between the cultures in South Florida through increasing awareness of racism, supporting natural community leaders, serving the poor and marginalized and working for social justice.
Welcome to the D.I.S.C. website! Conceived in 1994 as an intentional fellowship of five white Catholics and five black Baptists, D.I.S.C. has grown into a voice and a force for interracial justice and cooperation. Working with a diverse group of partners, including the City of Boca Raton, Habitat for Humanity, Florida Atlantic University, faith communities, other non-profits, and many more, we have organized and implemented a wide variety of community initiatives devoted to social justice, the arts, and racial harmony.
D.I.S.C. seeks to bring together diverse people, to support leaders in the black community, to promote justice, to assist the poor, and to acknowledge the presence and power of God. We strive to build bridges—and be bridges—across racial lines, sharing experiences and creating lasting friendships. The monthly Dialogue Group offers local residents the opportunity to receive information and voice opinions about community issues and concerns.
